Double degree UniMoRE-Radboud UniversityCall for applications – A.Y. 2023/2024

The university of Modena and Reggio Emilia and the Radboud University in Nijmegen offer a double degree programme to students enrolled in the M.Sc. in Physics at UNIMORE or in the M.Sc. in Physics and Astronomy at RU. Students admitted to the double degree programme will spend one year at each of the two universities, following a personalized study and research programme leading to the defence of the final dissertation at one of the two institutions. Successful completion of the programme leads to the M.Sc. in Physics and Astronomy at RU and the M.Sc. in Physics at UNIMORE. For students enrolling in the A.Y. 2023/2024, up to three positions are available at each institution.

1.  A completed Bachelor's degree in Physics and Astronomy, Physics or Applied Physics or equivalent. 

     The Bachelor’s degree needs to be obtained before December 1st, 2023.

2. Proficiency in English

In order to take part in this programme, you need to be able to prove you are fluent in both written and spoken English before you leave for the host university. Examples of such proof are:

  • TOEFL iBT: ≥ 90 + subscores ≥ 22; 
  • IELTS Academic: ≥ 6,5 overall + subscores ≥ 6,0 + writing subscore ≥ 6,5; 
  • Cambridge certificate C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency: C or higher.

In order to apply, you must submit the following documents:

1. Motivation letter in English The motivation letter (maximum 1 page) should provide: 

  • An explanation of why you want to take part in this programme 
  • An indication of your scientific field of interest and your future ambitions 

2. A transcript of records in English of your Bachelor's degree If you have not yet obtained your degree, please send the list of grades received so far and the list of courses you plan to finish for your degree. 

3. English language certificate If you do not have an accepted English language certificate, you can apply without one. However, if you are admitted to the programme, you will be required to provide proof of proficiency before leaving to the host university. If you can prove your English proficiency through your previous education or citizenship, a certificate is not required.

Shortly after the application deadline, applicants will be invited for an online interview with the Selection Committee. The selection criteria include the average grades during the bachelor, the motivation letter and the interview.
