ICT Security - MMS Minimum Security Measures
In order to counter the most common and frequent threats to which information systems are subjected, the CORE-MMS working group was set up at the University for the application of the Minimum Security Measures, whose actions have been recommended to all Public Administrations by AgID (Agency for Digital Italy) with the circular of 18 April 2017, n. 2. In compliance with UniMORE's statements, the FIM prepares appropriate forms (to be delivered to the ICT representatives) to register the characteristics of one's computer and the programs used in order to be able to use the connection to the UniMORE network and to the Internet with always up-to-date devices (including in this case both the operating system and the installed software). For this reason and in order to be able to schedule any updates in time, further information regarding the life cycle of some of the most popular operating systems is provided.
FORMS TO BE FILL IN AND DELIVERED TO ICT TECHNICIANS (IN THE RESTRICTED AREA)
MMS - FIM Administrator Appointment Form (.IT pdf file)
MMS - FIM AUTHORIZED SW list (in progress - file.xlsx)
The file can be used as a model for communicating via email the sw packages installed on the machines being administered (a list is sufficient for all the machines of which you are the administrator).

LIFE CYCLE OF OPERATING SYSTEMS, WHAT IT IS AND HOW TO FACE IT
Knowing the life cycle ( End Of Life ) of an operating system is essential for planning its replacement with a view to managing its obsolescence. The following table, updated to June 2022 , describes the life cycle (EOL) of the main operating systems and was obtained by consulting the sources of the main vendors, of the " CARNEGIE MELLON UNIVERSITY - School of Computer Science " and of the Endofile.date community (a project managed by this community to document end-of-life dates and support for various products). The highlighted data is a valuable source of information to have an always up-to-date overview of the often underestimated ICT security.
LIFECYCLE FOR WINDOWS SYSTEMS
Windows Lifecycle
Applies to all currently supported Windows systems
Windows Release Information
Official information about Windows releases and maintenance milestones, as well as resources, tools, and news about known issues and security measures. Maintenance will be performed via monthly quality updates for 18 or 30 months from the date of release, depending on the lifecycle policy.
What version of Windows OS am I running?
Windows LTSC

LIFE CYCLE FOR LINUX SYSTEMS
Ubuntu and derivatives
There are two types of versions marked by the support period, during which they will receive software updates. After this period, to receive updates it will be necessary to upgrade the system version or install a more recent system.
- LTS (Long Term Support) releases: 5-year support period.
Released every 2 years in April of even-numbered years. - Intermediate releases: 9 month support period.
Short support period for which an update to a new system version will be required soon.
LIFE CYCLE FOR APPLE macOS SYSTEMS
MacOS is closely linked to the life cycle of Apple devices, so it is useful to read the article in Macworld magazine dated 18 Jan 2022 signed by Karen Haslam or download the .pdf file obtained from the article.
