Ginzburg-Landau equations. Internal structures, phase field and Plasticity

Abstract:There is a long list of physical systems for which the classical laws of Continuum Physics (Mechanics, Electromagnetism, Heat propagation) are not sufficient in order to describe the behavior of these problems. For many phenomena, we may observe an irreversible change in the internal structure of the material. Whose behavior cannot be only described by classical equations of Continuum Physics. So, for these problems Landau suggests to introduce a new unknown, called order parameter, able to represent the internal order structure of the materials. Of course, we need to introduce a new equation on structural composition of the material, that will be called Ginzburg-Landau equation.
